Giant Hairy Humanoid depicted in Ancient Rome: Many readers have heard of the Hairy Humanoids represented in Medieval European sculptures and paintings, known as the Wodewose, Wudewasa or Wildmen.
Mentions of Hairy Humanoids can be found in even older literature, like Enkidu in the Sumerian tablets, the Vanara of Vedic scriptures or Sun Wukong in Ancient China, as many more examples described in ”Hairy Humanoids from the Wild – Encyclopedia of All Things Sasquatch”.
I just learned about another depiction from Antiquity of a Hairy Humanoid, less known although it has been exhibited publicly since two millennia. The Column of Marcus Aurelius in Rome, is a marble monument with an inside spiraling stairway lit by slits, and covered on its outside with carvings depicting scenes of the emperor’s life. It was built between 176 and 193 AD (dates are uncertain) and it stood originally 39.7 meter tall (130 feet), with its lowest three meters now underground.
In one scene, a Hairy Humanoid of gigantic size with very long arms is clearly seen, but it is hard to figure out what the story really tells. I googled a few photos that might help us solve the mystery. See for yourself…
